Gynaecology and Obstetrics is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics(covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).

Gynecologists give reproductive and sexual health services that include pelvic exams, Pap tests, cancer screenings, and testing and treatment for vaginal infections. They diagnose and treat reproductive system disorders such as endometriosis, infertility, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain.

Training and background

Dr. Heidemann is a German-Swedish citizen educated at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden and graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1998. He also worked in Lahore, Pakistan at King Edward Medical College in 1994 and in Nairobi, Kenya at the Kenyatra Missionary Station in 1996.

He has worked since 1998 in the Swedish National Health System in different hospitals in General and Orthopedic Surgery, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry. He became a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2005.

He completed the specialist surgery program in Trollhattan, near Gothenburg, where he later also became a specialist in family medicine (GP). He started working in the private sector in 2011, both as a medical director and as a specialist.

He is currently working in Marbella, Spain at Atlantic Clinic.
