Sari started her professional career in Contemporary and Jazz Dance in Finland and the USA, before training in physiotherapy and Pilates.

She qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in Helsinki in 2005 and worked for 2 years in the Medical Centre Sofianova in Helsinki.
In 2008 she relocated to Spain, and has built a loyal following of patients on the Costa del Sol.

Throughout her career she has been an active lecturer in physiotherapy and Pilates in a range of centres such as AALTO University in Helsinki, the Finnish National Team of Group Gymnastics, The Finnish National Ballet School and the Helsinki Polytechnic Stadia Physiotherapy department.

Continuing education through courses keeps her skills up to date. These have included professional training in Rheumatic diseases, Muscle Energy Technique, Respiratory physiotherapy, Back pain therapy and Lymphatic drainage.

Dr Garrod qualified from Guy´s School of Physiotherapy in 1991, she went on to complete a Master’s in Health Care and a PhD in the field of Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She has supervised a number of MSc and PhD students, teaching and practising in cardio-respiratory physiotherapy for over 25 years.
She is registered as a Physiotherapist in Spain and as an overseas practitioner with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (UK). She is a specialist in respiratory health, a trained stop smoking counsellor and “Mindfulness” approaches, hypnotherapy, relaxation and meditation.

She was Associate Professor of Physiotherapy at St George´s University of London and has over 100 peer reviewed publications / book chapters. Dr Garrod was Consultant Physiotherapist in COPD at King´s College Hospital before relocating to Marbella in 2013 where she continues to treat patients with cardiorespiratory disease at home, in clinics and online.

Presently Rachel is lead lecturer for MSc Module: Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Galway University. She regularly lectures for the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, for SBK Events and The British Thoracic Society.

Rachel is co-author of “The Secret to Thriving with COPD” and developer of On-line Better Breathing Course; Udemy.com and runs an online Pulmonary rehabilitation membership as well as Better Breathing seminars and workshops.
