He then moved to Edinburgh to complete further specialty training in medical psychotherapy at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, during which time he studied and trained in the psychoanalytic method. Dr Wilkinson worked as a consultant in an NHS psychotherapy service in Lanarkshire, Scotland, before moving to Spain.
As a psychiatrist in private practice Dr Wilkinson is able to consult and treat patients of any age for any mental health issue, including conditions such as anxiety disorders, depression, psychoses, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and difficulties with attachment and relationships. Regardless of the main issue, Dr Wilkinson’s psychoanalytic training can help to add an understanding of the personality and psychological factors underpinning someone’s difficulties. He also practises as a therapist, offering a long-term therapeutic relationship as a basis for personality exploration and development.
