Training and background
Clinical research assistant in psychiatric service in New York University at Bellevue Hospital (6 months, 2003), where he gained a clinical fellowship at Psychiatric Liaison Service and experience in the Mobile Crisis Unit, Emergency Psychiatric Service, and the Inpatient Unit.
He then trained in General Psychiatry (as part of the MIR program) in Clinical training in various areas of the Andalucian public health service: the Outpatient and Inpatient Unit, the Child and Adolescent Unit, Consultant and Liaison Service and Rehabilitation Units, as well as an investigator in an international, phase III, clinical trial (1999-2003). For the six months following he worked as a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist in the Inpatient and Outpatient units of the Andalucian public health service.
From 2004-2011 he worked in both Field Psychiatry (Medical Science Laison) & a CNS Medical Manager at AstraZeneca. Alongside this, Dr. Jaime Galán was an Attending Psychiatrist at Andrea Regina Outpatient Clinic, and then also in 2011-2017 in Hospital Quiron.
During 2013-2018 Dr. Galán worked full time at Cortijo Care. Cortijo Care was an exclusive and luxury Psychological Wellbeing Clinic offering a unique, holistic and therapeutic approach to Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders and General Psychiatry.
In the Hermanas Hospitalarias del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús in Malaga (2014-2020), Dr. Galán worked full time as Head of Mental Health/ Psichiatry, which included the short term & long term units and the day hospital.
Now he is currently working as a Psychiatrist in private clinics in Marbella and Malaga since 2018. He provides a highly personalized clinical attention that covers many psychiatric pathologies (such as ADHD, dual pathology, depression, psychosis etc.), frequently as a consultor or second opinion, especially in resilient & difficult to diagnose cases.
