You may have heard more about RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) lately — and for good reason. RSV is a very common virus that can cause cold-like symptoms, but for some people, especially babies, young children, and older adults, it can lead to serious lung infections.
The good news? We now have safe and effective RSV vaccines and preventive options that can help protect both children and adults.
RSV Protection for Adults
It is recommended for adults aged 60 and older, and those over 50 who are at risk (with heart or lung conditions, diabetes, or weakened immune systems). This vaccine is available at Atlantic clinic and costs 274€.
RSV Protection for Babies and Young Children
RSV can be especially dangerous for infants. Thankfully, there are now two great ways to help protect little ones:
During pregnancy: The RSV vaccine can be given between 32–36 weeks of pregnancy to help pass protective antibodies to your baby before birth. The cost is 284€.
After birth: A one-time antibody injection can help protect babies during their first RSV season or it can be given up to age 2 years for children at risk. The cost is 885€. This vaccine is also available through the social security.
Both options offer peace of mind for parents during those early, vulnerable months.
Why It Matters
RSV can spread easily — especially during the autumn and winter months. Protecting yourself or your child not only reduces the risk of severe illness, but also helps protect the wider community.
If you would like to book your vaccine, please call Atlantic Clinic on 952 81 7425.
Vaccines need to be paid for in advance as once ordered they cannot be returned.
